Blue Bottle Sprints
MMMR closed out the 2025 racing year with four short 5-minute sprint races for various cars. The seven scheduled races turned out to be optimistic in the allotted time however everyone had a fun time. We welcomed four new racers, Dylan and Doug from the RC world and Ben and youngster Eli all tried their hand (finger) at digital racing. Craig dominated the event, winning all of the races although Ron, Scott and Tom kept things close.
The standout driver of race one was Dylan, who qualified 3rd and ran 4th in his first digital race.
The highlight of race two was the close battle between Craig, Ron and Tom. All had a peek at the lead in the last 30 seconds but Craig prevailed.
The DROT Pioneer Legends race featured a close battle for second between Scott, Dylan, and Ron with Scott earning his first of two second places.
The night ended with a night race. Everybody moaned and groaned but ran about the same number of laps as the other races. Elementary student Everett was the best driver of this race, finishing third and earning a blue bottle.
This event also provided the “Ghost Car Gamble”. Participants put $5 in the pot and choose a ghost car. Eight ghosts are released at the start and the last car running is the winner. This was hilarious. One car lead most of the race but when two ghosts crashed out the spike in voltage caused the leader to spin and the slowest car was the winner. Scott and Dylan split the pot.
We at MMMR would like to thank all the racers who participated in our events this year and wish everyone and their loved ones a safe, reflective, and pleasant holiday season. See you for more great racing in January.
