Fireside December Sports Car Race

Ron has mixed up a wicked batch of whup-ass with his mortar (motor) and pestle, winning the Sportscar race and Porsche Cup Race at the final MMMR race meeting of the year. It was his first time running Fireside Reversed and it posed no problem-he had the fastest practice/qualy lap until Dave piped him by .149 sec. in the final sessions of practice. The always improving Kevin jumped to an early lead but fell behind around 11 minutes in. The race then became a battle royal between Ron and Tom. This race required one pit stop for “fuel”. Ron got his perfect, whereas Tom was almost finished when another unnamed driver pitted and knocked him part way on the track. So, Tom went out short of fuel. The offending driver received an educational tongue lashing but, as the infraction was unintentional, no penalty was handed out. So, with 2 min to go Tom had to stop, handing the win to Ron. Bo ran an excellent and determined 3rd. As the qualification times turned out the A main was all gold drivers and the B main was all silver drivers. Tim dominated the B main winning by 4 laps over Brian M. and boosting himself into 5th place overall. Harold Montague raced digitally for the first time, having fun and winning the rookie award as well.

Ron and Tom outran the field with Ron leading by a scant half lap. Ron de-slotted just twice but one was a massive head-on wreck into the #3 bank involving two other cars, one of which went out of the park. “Floor!” These 917s are fun to race and Ron, Reggie, and Craig have all have cars now so soon the IROC format will be dropped and it will become a class in 2025.

Goodloe Annual Fall Classic

Ten racers participated in the second annual Fall Classic at Goodloe Model Motorsports Park and featured 8 gold drivers and 2 silver ranked drivers. Craig blasted out of the gate and at 10 minutes was a lap and a half ahead of the battling Ron, David, Tom and Reggie. Then both Craig and David began to fall back. At the checkers it was Tom, Reggie and Ron in a close finish to a hard- fought race. Brian was the Silver winner and we welcomed Patrick who walked away with 2nd place silver and the rookie award as well. Everyone enjoyed the newly configured GMMP circuit with a Scaleauto section and flat R-2 curve.

Fall Classic DROT Race

Craig keeps randomly choosing a fast Porsche so what can one do? Maybe unhook his controller, or best yet, sic Ron on him! Ron chased him like a rabid dog but came up a half lap short in an insanely close DROT/IROC contest. The 2300 RPM 917s are a grin and a half to drive and may become a class.

Hanover Final Race

Nine racers enjoyed beautiful weather, outdoor dining, and great digital racing at the last race at Mike’s Hanover Digital Speedway. Sad to say his house is being renovated and he’s no longer living there. The track, as always, was a pleasure to drive and will be missed by all. David dominated the action among the gold drivers, setting fastest lap in the race and practice/qualification, and leading most of the way. His handling of the pit stop program was perfect in that he finished with 5% fuel left. Mike had a great race and showed that the Carrera Mustang can be competitive running second and Kevin finished third (first silver) and now becomes a gold driver. Tim won his second B main and finished second in the silver category.
