This was the best MMMR entry yet with strong runners from D.C., VA. MD. DE. And PA. 16 drivers took the green for the longest MMMR race at 40 min. Qualifying and the fight for a crucial point in the Chip Cup championship was intense. David and Bo traded fast laps with Ron, Reggie, Craig and Paris putting up low 10.1s. Bo seemed set with a 10.0 until David got into the 9.9s. Bo tried to best this during the final minutes of qualification, falling short by a couple of 10ths.
The race was a grueling test of driving under the pressure of constant pit stops. In attempting to increase the number of pit stops, the race director erred with there now being a pit stop every two minutes or so. Well, it was the same for everybody but with six drivers stopping fifteen to twenty times the action was non- stop. Add to this the new and controversial long under- ground pit lane. Some drivers liked it and some not. Even with two directors calling out fuel numbers, the races became chaotic several times. Bill and Tim raced just about side by side for the 40 min. C main with Bill taking the win by only half a lap for what would become 11th place. Great driving by both started the day out right.
The B main was dominated by Mike, who handled the many pit stops better than most, and won by five laps over the improving Allan. Brian beat Kevin for third (9th) by a narrow six track sections (the closest gap of the race.)
After two restarts due to software problems, the A main did not disappoint for it was a 40 min “balls to wall” slug fest. David jumped out in front and looked in control through the first couple of minutes and pit stops. Due to a faulty controller however, he steadily dropped back and out of contention. This left Paris, Ron, Reggie, Craig and Bo battling for the front spot. These drivers (arguably the best Mid-Atlantic slot racers) gave no quarter. All had good and bad pit stops and all led the race at some point. It was only in the last ten minutes that Craig inched into a three- lap lead and the field sorted into the final order. Craig was followed by Reg, Paris, Ron and Bo. David gets the” BOHICA “award as he fell behind Mike from the B main to seventh place. At least he can be happy with the fastest
Quali point.
Some call him “Chef Bill ‘R’ Dee” and some call him “Chuck Wagon Bill”, but whatever you call him, he cooks good eats. This time it was dogs, honey baked ham and cheese sandwiches, pasta salad, chicken shish kabob, shrimp BBQ, and bean soup. Bill’s best spread yet. Many thanks to Mike for hosting another fun MMMR event. See you on May 18th at Goodloe Model Motorsports Park for the Choc-Chip 30. Craig now leads the standings by two points.

With 17 entries, this was the largest MMMR field to date. Birthday- boy Bo blasted everybody yet again and again it was a real “Sweeny Todd” (close-shave!) affair. Bo won by less than a lap over Ron with Reg, Kevin (B Main winner), Tom, Mike, Bill and Allan, David, and Lovette (C Main winner) a lap and a half to two laps back across the A and B mains. The DROT aspect was a closed reverse grid and every main had a massive wreck at turn one……. Newcomer Brian posted a creditable 43+ laps. The next DROT race will feature an analog pit stop of 30 sec. and some kind of expanded grid.

NASCAR Series Race One
Sixteen drivers from four states were on hand for this first ever MMMR points series race for Carrera Classic stock cars. We welcomed many new MMMR racers including Allan and Kiwan who were the first racers from DE who race with the First State Digital Racing Club. Damone from the Capital Racing League impressed with how quickly he adapted to Fireside Raceway with the second fastest qualifying time. Newcomers Jim, Andy and Craig were trying out digital racing for the first time. The star of the race was six-year-old Craig (with Dad Andy holding him) racing for the full 30 min. and even encouraging the marshals to hurry. His amazing concentration was rewarded with his very own digital stocker.
Qualifying was the most competitive so far this year, with half the field posting times in the 14 sec. bracket. Bo set a new lap record for stock cars and earned the point for fastest lap..
The C main went off without a hitch but unfortunately both the B and A mains were marred with power failure (due to a misplaced wall plug) which shut down the track while the clock was still running. The lap counter was reset but was not totally accurate as well as the fuel program was messed up. This allowed uneven results and obscured an intense race between David and Bo for first and Craig, Reggie and Ron for third. David and Bo put on a driving clinic, much as they had in last month’s Corvette race, with David prevailing this time by just sections. Kevin C. and Ryan had a race long battle which Ryan won after Kevin had to stop to reflash his car.
Jim won the Top Rookie award with a fine drive to tenth. Kudos to Tim who won his first main.
The next race will be on Mike’s Hanover Digital Speedway on April 20. Bo and David are tied for first in the Chip Cup Championship with 18Pts.

The DROT race was a 10 min race that teamed the top finisher with the last place driver and second place driver with the next to last place driver and so forth. Ten drivers participated with each driver getting 5 min. It was fun and the powerful team of Craig and Kevin took first by a lap over Tim and Reggie. The next DROT race will feature a reverse grid and will try a top heavy driver placement (6 drivers in the A main).
