Firecracker 30
Fifteen racers (5 gold and 10 silver, including first timers John and George) made their way to Kevin's fast Fireside Raceway for the Firecracker 30. The race was a standard close digital one except for Jr., who ran away with the event. He was in another zip code by the race’s end. Driving the Gulf liveried 917, he destroyed the previous record (D J’s 111 laps from our last race) by 7 laps. This in a car that he prepped only a week before. He also set pole, pipping Tom by .007 sec. It was rumored that he set an even faster time that was not recorded. He has earned the gold rank in just 3 races. He was the only racer turning in 13 sec. qualifying laps during the race. An excellent drive. David and Kevin were left to fill 2nd and 3rd.
The B main, made up of silver racers, was the best race of the day. Andrew, Brian, Tim and Allen all had a taste of the lead, with Tim (the king of silver drivers) ultimately prevailing over Allen with Brian completing the silver podium.
Second fastest qualifier Tom opted to race in the C main in order to race direct the A and B mains. He managed to boost his way to 4th overall. The amazing Everett (age 6), drove well and is certainly a future star.
Four Elementary school kids were on hand (Harley, Eden, Everett, and Jacob) so a 5 min. pick up race was held with Harley taking top honors. Harley and Eden continued our development of paid marshals and marshaled well the entire set of races. George was the winner of the rookie award digital car and can pick it up at our next race.

Firecracker DROT
Twelve racers stayed for the 10 min. Next Gen race. It was a typical turbulent tussle between Kevin, David, Tom and D. J. with crafty Craig staying above of the fray and winning by sections over Kevin. The real story of the race was the sterling drive put in by Tim, who won the B main and inserted himself into second overall, almost beating Craig. Tim’s first win and a gold rank cannot be far away.

Porsche 917 Father’s Day 30
Ten racers made their way to Kevin’s Fireside Raceway for MMMR’s first Carrera Porsche 917 digital race. D. J. put in a superb performance to win his first MMMR race and has earned gold driver status in only his third race. Driving a Hurley Haywood liveried #59 Brumos Porsche he pipped Tom by half a lap after 30 intense min. Tom, racing the “Hippy” Porsche led at the start but fell to second by half distance. He clawed his way back but could not pass the determined D.J. Tom jr. finished an excellent third by winning the B main for his first podium place. Kevin, Tim, and Brian all finished on the same lap across the two mains. Jim and Jen were involved in a battle for 8th that went on the entire race. Second fastest qualifier Craig led briefly until car troubles dropped him to 7th. A most enjoyable and hard-fought race with only a couple of missed laps, no penalties, and no controversies.

Next Gen DROT Race Report
MMMR, by popular demand, has now developed the Carrera Next Gen cars into a raceable class. This first race was run as an IROC format with the cars distributed by random draw. Kevin totally dominated the 10 min. race driving the Raptor car. D.J. and Tom kept up the pressure but could not catch the zoned in K Man. Everyone liked these cars and the next race will be the same format. Carlton tried his first MMMR race and says he will be back.

Carrera Classic NASCAR Race
12 racers were on hand for this 30 min. event. We welcomed Everett and Richard for their first race and Scott and Ernie returned for their second race. Craig and Ron battled for the win for most of the A main. Craig would open a slim lead but then his car kept losing a front wheel which allowed Ron to move to the front. This happened twice but Craig prevailed. Tom completed the podium with a win in the B main. Scott continues to show improvement to finish fourth and the Silver category win. How soon does he reach gold? Six- year- old Everett was the star of the race, displaying an attention span far beyond his years. He won the Rookie Award (and beat his Dad as well), finishing 10th. The races included one ghost car. No fuel program was used. Scott, Tim, and Brian made up the Silver podium.

The Porsche 917 DROT (IROC format) was another 10 min. barn-burner digital race. Craig, Scott, Tom and Ron all had a sniff at the lead, but Craig, with his usual fine driving, just managed to hold off Ron, with Tom and Scott a lap behind. All 12 drivers who ran the main event stayed for this race which was the last Porsche DROT race as these cars will now be used for the next few races for the 30 min event. Carrera NASCAR Gen X cars will be the next car developed under the DROT (Digital Racing of Tomorrow) class.
Winner - Craig
