MMMR’s show track visited the Lansdowne Inn near Baltimore for a day of racing during the Daytona 500. While the real race was rain delayed the digital racing was hot and heavy with many kids and adults trying slots for the first time. The grins were plenty when changing lanes and passing. Many thanks to D J Cunningham and his group Karting With Friends for arranging this visit. Our show track’s next appearance will be Mar 30 at the slot car show in White Marsh MD.
Maryland Model Motor Racing (MMMR) is now one of only two American race organizations listed with The Digital Slot Car Association (DiSCA).
DiSCA works toward creating a progression that takes the home racer to domestic level club racing, and then on to national and international competition and supports racers and clubs worldwide.
More information to come!
Leo and Dave, along with Capitol Racing League members Craig, Reggie and Cooke, took part in First State Racing’s Carrera Digital 1/24 2hr GT Enduro on 6/22/24. Kiwan and everyone from FSR welcomed us and the camaraderie was abundant.
In qualifying, the entire field of six teams was only separated by one half second. During the race, the competition was fierce at many points and the learning curve steep for both the 3MR and CRL teams.
Many thanks to FSR for the event and hospitality. We were clearly with guys who love digital slots as much as we do.
Slot Scouting
5/24/24
Cub Scouts from Troop 794 out of Elkridge, MD. enjoyed an afternoon of digital slot racing at Mike’s Hanover, MD Track.
All of them earned a racing medallion by demonstrating the ability to keep their car on the track, change lanes, and use the pit lane. They maintained peak enthusiasm and did not want to stop driving even for the cook-out lunch! The racing started with crash and burn races followed by several short races, a qualifier and final race.
Six kids raced while two watched as they rotated around the eight participants. Brothers Reed and Cody finished first and second in the final race with the cars only separated by inches at the finish.
Alexandra, Andra, Aubrey, Ben, Cody, Dalton, Leo, and Reed were all great racers. Many thanks to Mike for conceiving and organizing this event.
